Food Security & Youth Empowerment Across ASIA
Asia Speaks Chapter Indonesia is a partnership programme between International Youth Centre (IYC), Malaysia and Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia that aims to capture the access component of food security and improve the social economic well-being of ASIA and people through youth volunteerism and social innovation approaches. The programmes targets youth between the ages of 17 to 25 years old from all 10 ASEAN Member and Asia countries to be change-makers by providing a platform to learn, contribute and advocate solution to solve problems in food security and empowering youth across Asia. Achieving food security requires an integrated approach that addresses all form malnutrition, the productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers, the resilience of the food system and the sustainable use of biodiversity and genetic resources.
The programme enabled 15 selected student delegates from top universities in Indonesia, Malaysia and other Universities across Asia to come up with ideas and solution that empowered food security and youth empowerment in Indonesia, Malaysia and Asia. In its implementation, the programme will select 15 qualified students and working youths between the ages of 19 to 25 years old from each ASEAN country or Asia to participate in a 1-day intensive capacity building and orientation workshops, which will allow the youths to develop their knowledge and skills in food security and youth empowerment and produce solid ideas and plan for their community projects.
Asia Speaks Chapter Indonesia will be held at Bogor Agricultural University. The Main venue of the workshop is located at Hakim Nasution Building on Thursday 28 February 2019.
